Monument
The Montana Pro Rodeo Hall and Wall of Fame Monument Site is the culmination of many years of planning and hard work. Set in a grove of stately pines near the entrance of the MetraPark Arena in Billings, Montana, it is a tribute to the many professional rodeo champion cowboys and cowgirls of Montana.
The focus of the monument site is a spectacular 18' bronze sculpture of six-time World Champion saddle bronc rider Dan Mortensen aboard the bronc Tee Box. The bronze, seemingly defying gravity, balances atop an impressive sandstone base. The sculpture was created by noted western artist R. F. Rains and was his last major work. Rains died just six months after the unveiling of the Mortensen bronze in October 2002.
The beautifully landscaped site also includes an impressive curved, brick wall with names of Montana's champion rodeo cowboys and cowgirls engraved on
granite panels. New names will be added as the list of Montana Professional Rodeo Champions grows. Click on a panel to see a larger view
Plans are being finalized for an additional brick and granite wall to be engraved with the names of Montana Professional Rodeo circuit champions, NFR qualifiers, rodeo committees, and personnel. Also listed will be the names of all Miss Rodeo Montana queens.
